California DRE Fee Increase – July 1, 2024
Effective July 1, 2024, many of the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) examinee, licensee, subdividers, and statutory/pre-license course provider fees have increased. The fee adjustments will allow the Department to continue to provide the strongest consumer protection measures and better align fees with the cost of providing services.
As you may be aware, DRE proposed to the Legislature a series of fee increases in early 2024. The proposal was approved and signed into law on June 29, 2024.
Please note, the fee adjustments apply to applications submitted to DRE on or after July 1, 2024.

Why the Fee Adjustments?
It is important to note that the proposed fee updates were carefully calculated to align with the operational needs of the Department. By increasing fees, DRE aims to ensure a sustainable financial model that can effectively support its functions. The mission of the Department is consumer protection. To carry out this mission, DRE must ensure it has the necessary fiscal resources.
The Department protects consumers with stringent monitoring and oversight measures, which includes conducting thorough enforcement investigations, ensuring adherence to professional standards, and providing avenues for licensee redress in case of any complaint or audit findings.
