Be on the Lookout for DRE Scams!
Tuesday, Dec 22, 2020 @ 03:23 PM

GLAR has recently been made aware of a new spoofing scam posing as the DRE, targeting sales agents and brokers. Scammers are identifying themselves as DRE investigators or staff by spoofing DRE phone numbers and demanding that you wire them money over a citation or other disciplinary action.

In some instances, the scammers may identify themselves as law enforcement and make

similar demands. The scammers may be “spoofing” DRE telephone numbers to make the calls seem legitimate.

Do not wire them any money! DRE Staff will never contact you or demand payment without a formal action being filed against you and first sending you a formal document via certified mail. DRE will also never ask you to wire them money.

If you encounter this scam, please report the scam to the DRE at 1-877-373-4542 or contact the FCC to file a complaint. You can also report a confirmed scam call to local law enforcement.
