COVID-19 Rental Relief - Tenant Protections and Eviction Resources
Monday, Aug 9, 2021 @ 08:09 PM

The recent news about the federal eviction moratorium extension has created confusion among property managers, landlords and tenants as to what the ‘rules of the road’ are going forward. While the federal government is still working out the details of the eviction moratorium extension (and determining its legality), it is important to remember that there are currently billions of dollars in assistance available to landlords and tenants. Links to these resources are provided below, and in many cases, landlords or property managers can apply for relief on behalf of their tenants. Please note - California’s state eviction moratorium is still in place and supersedes the federal moratorium. If anything changes on this front, we will inform you as soon as possible.

  • C.A.R. has a detailed legal Q&A about the rent moratorium extensions and the COVID Rental Housing Recovery act, including links to resources and best practices. Click here to view it (please note - C.A.R. login is required)
  • View C.A.R.’s Legal Quick Guide on the Expanded State Rental Assistance Program for Landlords.
  • NAR’s Rental Assistance Resources link to over 20 different programs and informational resources about how to apply for rental assistance, how to communicate with tenants about rental assistance opportunities and flyers you can share with your clients about applying for assistance.
  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) just launched a new rental resources website to help match landlords and renters with assistance programs at the local, state and federal level, including a county-level resource search. The page includes resources specifically for landlords and tenants.
