GLAR Dues Expansion
Thursday, Nov 4, 2021 @ 02:22 PM

What is a “One Time Dues Expansion?”

A dues expansion is a one-time assessment on your membership dues that is applied to help the association fund improvements in the services we offer our members, including education, professional development, and other member benefits. The association’s leadership voted to apply an assessment rather than a permanent dues increase to maximize the long-term benefit to our membership while minimizing long-term financial impact.

Will There Be New Benefits in 2022?

Yes! The association will be using a portion of the dues expansion to simultaneously lower the cost of continuing education and professional development courses while also expanding the amount of courses we offer and the breadth of subjects that they cover.

The $100 dues expansion will result in a return of over $320 enhanced benefits for GLAR members. Here are some of the highlights:

All non-CE credit education and professional development courses and events will be offered FREE to GLAR members.

During the COVID-19 crisis, GLAR offered over 100 courses, webinars, meetings and events free to our members. These virtual events brought national speakers, real estate, legal, and legislative experts and community leaders such as Congresswoman Karen Bass, State Senator Ben Allen, C.A.R. Attorney Gov Hutchinson, and more to discuss important topics and issues with GLAR members.

Thanks to an overwhelmingly positive response to these events and increased attendance at GLAR events, we are making all non-CE credit education and professional development opportunities free to GLAR members. These courses are a great opportunity to increase your knowledge of a range of topics in the real estate industry, stay up to date on current events and broaden your professional skill set.

‘Contract College’ real estate law education courses will return in 2022 - and be offered at no cost to all GLAR members.

This popular set of courses, taught by prominent real estate attorney Kelly G Richardson, Esq, was offered on a trial basis in prior years Contract College covers the latest trending topics in real estate contracts, and cover areas that can frequently trip up a transaction. The Contract College series will now be offered as a permanent FREE education benefit to GLAR members - a savings of $250 off the cost of the course. This change is being made to enhance your membership experience and in response to feedback from our membership requesting more contract-focused courses.

The cost of the licensing renewal course package will be reduced by $20 for all members.

GLAR is lowering the cost of our most popular continuing education package to $65 from $85 to make license renewal more accessible and more affordable for all. This is the second year in a row that GLAR has lowered the price of the course for our members.

All members who pay their dues in full by December 31, 2021 will receive a $50 education credit to be used towards designations and certifications offered through GLAR in 2022.

Designations and certifications can help you enhance your expertise in real estate and increase your bottom line by putting you in the position to make more sales. The association is committed to making them more accessible and affordable by reducing the cost of the courses associated with any designation or certification we offer. Our 2022 education calendar will be announced shortly - keep an eye on our website and your email for more information!

GLAR will be hosting more events in each of our five regions in 2022 bringing top-quality programs closer to home for all members.

As part of the GLAR regionalization plan, we will be rolling out a series of hyper-local events focused on the needs of the communities and REALTORS® in each of our five regions.

These events will cover the issues that are important to you, and will be a great opportunity to make sure that your voice is heard and that the association’s actions and priorities are reflective of your needs. We are working on finalizing the schedule of events for 2022, which will include forums with elected officials, REALTOR® socials and more. More information is forthcoming on these events - so stay tuned!

While we understand that it is never pleasant to have to face an increase in the cost of doing business, the Greater Los Angeles REALTORS® association is committed to ensuring that you receive top-quality benefits as part of your association membership. If there is something you would like to see us add to our list of benefits, or have suggestions for additional courses and tools, please feel free to reach out to us.
