Sheriff Luna Legislative Lunch Recap

Published On: November 19, 2025

As we close out the year, our final Centennial Club Legislative Lunch featured Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert G. Luna at the USC Hotel. Drawing on decades of experience, Sheriff Luna shared real-world examples and provided an inside look at the state of public safety across Los Angeles County.

He discussed preparations for major upcoming events, including international training during the Paris Olympics to strengthen readiness for future countywide operations. On homelessness, he described a coordinated cleanup process and the removal of more than 1,000 illegal RVs, emphasizing the department’s commitment to connecting people with needed social services. He also addressed overcrowding within the jail system, highlighting rehabilitation programs that pair inmates as mentors and students to support reintegration and reduce repeat offenses. Staffing, he noted, remains a top challenge: recruitment is strong, but retention is difficult as many officers are either early in their careers or nearing retirement.

Finally, Sheriff Luna emphasized the value of face-to-face conversations like this one, noting that community trust begins with direct dialogue. He encouraged REALTORS® to stay engaged with their local Sheriff’s stations, stay informed about neighborhood trends, and remain educated as we head into the upcoming elections. His message was clear: informed, connected REALTORS® play a vital role in building safer, stronger communities.
