2026 GLAR Committees & Workgroups
Our volunteers are the heartbeat of GLAR. Thank you to the many members who stepped forward to serve on our 2026 Committees and Workgroups – your leadership, time, and passion help shape the future of our association and the real estate community.
While most 2026 committee and leadership appointments have now closed, volunteer opportunities with the Young Professionals Network (YPN) and the Regional Advocacy Council (RAC) remain open year-round for members looking to stay engaged, build meaningful connections, and help shape the work ahead.
GLAR members are invited to apply now to join YPN or RAC and engage year-round in meaningful, member-driven work.
Commercial Workgroup
The Commercial Workgroup is committed to providing GLAR REALTORS® with targeted training, valuable resources, and specialized education designed to meet the unique demands of the commercial real estate market. Through workshops, guest speakers, peer networking, and market updates, the committee helps members sharpen their communication skills, stay informed on industry trends, and elevate their level of professionalism to better serve clients and grow their commercial business.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Workgroup
Committed to collaborating with trusted real estate partners to drive meaningful change and progress in the industry. The DEI Work Group works to address critical issues, promote inclusive practices, and help shape a more equitable future for real estate professionals and the communities they serve.
Executive Committee
The purpose of the Executive Committee is to provide strategic leadership and governance that advances the mission of the Association. In close partnership and collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Committee ensures that policies, programs, and resources serve the best interests of members, safeguard the integrity of the REALTOR® brand, and strengthen the role of REALTORS® as trusted advisors in the Greater Los Angeles community. By fostering collaboration, fiscal responsibility, and forward-looking decision-making, the Executive Committee empowers staff and volunteer leaders to deliver education, advocacy, and services that enhance professionalism, protect property rights, and promote thriving, inclusive communities across the region.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee oversees the financial health of GLAR. It monitors budget performance, evaluates financial opportunities, and reviews future investments to ensure alignment with the association’s strategic goals and financial policies. The committee also develops the annual budget in coordination with leadership to support GLAR’s mission and priorities.
Global Committee
The Global Committee supports GLAR’s commitment to global business by helping members expand their international reach and better serve clients in a multicultural marketplace. In alignment with the National Association of REALTORS®’ global initiatives, the committee provides access to CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) education, global market insights, and international networking opportunities. The committee equips members with the tools and knowledge needed to close cross-border transactions and thrive in an increasingly interconnected real estate market.
Government Affairs Committee
Grievance Committee
The Grievance Committee reviews all complaints submitted to the association regarding REALTOR® conduct and is responsible for upholding the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. The committee ensures that all matters are evaluated fairly and in accordance with established professional standards. Note: Must participate in at least six (6) Grievance Committee meetings before requesting appointment to the Professional Standards Committee. (Affiliate members cannot serve here.)
Leadership Academy Workgroup
The Leadership Academy Workgroup provides input and support to staff in the development and delivery of GLAR’s Leadership Academy. The group offers feedback on curriculum ideas, assists with outreach and engagement, and may help identify potential speakers or mentors. This work group plays a helpful role in fostering an inclusive and impactful leadership development experience for future REALTOR® leaders.
Local Candidate Recommendation Committee (LCRC)
Every day elected officials make decisions that impact the real estate industry, homeownership, and private property rights. The Local Candidates Recommendation Committee (LCRC) helps ensure those decisions support you, your business, and your clients. The important work of this committee is made possible through investments in the REALTOR® Action Fund (RAF).
Vice Chair: Tom Swanson
Professional Standards Committee
GLAR’s Professional Standards Committee conducts ethics and arbitration hearings in accordance with the procedures established by the California Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. The committee ensures due process and upholds the highest standards of professionalism by enforcing the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
Regional Advocacy Council
The Regional Advocacy Council (RAC) serves as a strategic grassroots network within GLAR, focused on identifying and addressing local policy issues across the association’s geographic footprint. RAC members act as advocacy liaisons in their respective regions, reporting key insights to the Government Affairs Committee and supporting GLAR’s public policy priorities. The Council helps strengthen local engagement, foster community relationships, and elevate REALTOR® influence in public affairs. Recommendations may be made to the Board of Directors when appropriate.
Sustainability Workgroup
The Sustainability Workgroup identifies solutions that encourage sustainable development through incentives rather than mandates, as seen in other jurisdictions. The group will report its findings to the Government Affairs Committee and, when appropriate, make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Young Professionals Network (YPN)
The Young Professionals Network (YPN) is an inclusive group of REALTORS® and Affiliates—open to members of all ages—who are passionate about professional growth, community involvement, wellness, and meaningful networking. YPN helps members stay informed and engaged through educational events, mixers, and volunteer opportunities. The network also provides access to specialized sessions at REALTOR® conferences, focusing on strategies for success in today’s evolving real estate profession.
